NSROC Statements

‘NSROC Statement 15 Feb 13’ This Position Statement was issued as a Press Release by the Northern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils after its meeting on 14 February 2013. Member Councils (Hornsby, Hunters Hill, Ku-ring-gai, Lane Cove, North Sydney, Ryde and Willoughby) hold the NSW Government to its pre-election promise of no forced amalgamations. Reform is supported that strengthens the capacity of individual councils to collaborate and partner with other councils and organisations while maintaining local participation and democracy within existing council boundaries.

‘NSROC Submission to White Paper’ This submission dated 3 July 2013 raises amongst a number of matters concerns about lack of notification to communities of nearby developments, the failure to get the balance right between economic outcomes and environmental and social outcomes, and recommends a State policy to protect heritage.

‘NSROC Submission to Metro Strategy’ This submission dated 3 July 2013 raises concerns about the housing and employment targets and how they were arrived at, emphasises that infrastructure needs to be in place first, is critical of the proposed subregions and recommends instead a Planning Subregion for Northern Sydney that includes NSROC and SHOROC.

‘NSROC Submission to Review Panel’ This submission dated August 2013 states that NSROC is against forced amalgamations, recommends that rate pegging should be abolished, supports a strengthened ROC system and rejects ‘new look’ County Councils, and argues that democratically elected local councils should be the ones to provide governance for their areas.

‘NSROC Submission to LGA Taskforce’ This submission dated June 2013 notes that there are other reports and reviews in process that impact on the Taskforce’s task, however does support many recommendations while making suggestions and criticisms of others.
